The prevention of signs of ageing in skin has always been a hot topic; I don’t like to shame the natural process of ageing and enjoying being outdoors in all weathers, but I do think looking after the health of our skin is important, particularly in the sun; and that preserving a smooth, soft texture (and even doing our skin extra good!) is an enjoyable bonus.
Leafology’s first sun care product is a unique blend of protective plant oils and non-nano zinc oxide, created to create an invisible barrier by adding a layer (or ‘veil’) of mineral magic over the face and body, without greasiness or blocking pores. Gentle and effective, it’s an off-white, enriched oil which quickly rubs in flawlessly, leaving a matte glow texture, which is ideal for wearing either alone or under make up.
Created with skin-soothing ingredients such as raspberry seed, rosehip and aloe vera, fruity goodness such as kiwi, watermelon and tangerine, the natural scents of neroli, rosemary and real rose petals (ground into a micro powder and included in every bottle), plus organic white tea, cinnamon, cucumber and carrot seed oil, the Lightworker Sun Drops is a beautiful (and unique) option for your collection.
Uses & Directions:
Shake well. Dispense a small amount (a little goes a long way!) into your hand and smooth over your face and body in gentle upward/outward movements. Reapply as necessary, for example after bathing, and take further precautions in very strong sun.
CARROT SEED OIL: Improves tone and helps to balance both oily and dry complexions. Healing, hydrating and detoxifying.
NON-NANO ZINC OXIDE: Non-nano zinc particles do not enter through the skin, but instead rest on top of it. Zinc is a natural mineral with an important function; it is famous for its use in natural sunscreens which offer various SPF ratings depending on the percentage included (too high and you get the opaque-white sunblock look!). In this fomulation, the zinc is present enough to have an impact and form a thin barrier, while rubbing in well without leaving white marks. Shaking the bottle well before applying helps to homogenise the blend for best results.
WATERMELON, KIWI and CUCUMBER SEED OILS: Watermelon seed oil is light and fast-absorbing, full of minerals and fatty acids. Kiwi fruit oil is thought to help boost collagen production, reducing dryness and fine lines. Cucumber seed oil is soothing and calming, boosting elasticity.
ORGANIC COLD PRESSED ROSEHIP OIL: Wonderful for reversing hyperpigmentation, the signs of aging, sun damage, stretch marks and scars. Its high anti-oxidant content improves texture and revitalizes the skin.
RASPBERRY SEED OIL: This oil has the highest content of alpha linolenic acid of any fruit seed oils, making it very effective against inflammation. Meanwhile, its ellegic acid content can reduce the destruction of collagen and it’s also very high in vitamin E, giving good antioxidant properties. A youth booster! (This is also the highest component of the Good Face Day Serum, which is a glorious face oil offering some very slight protection of its own, year round).
ORGANIC WHITE TEA: White tea is produced from the youngest leaves of the camellia sinensis plant, and is minimally processed. It’s known for its high antioxidant content (meaning it fights free radical damage) and is anti-inflammatory. It’s a beautiful thing to connect with your skin, hence this page!
CUCUMBER: Cooling and calming, cucumber extract is anti-inflammatory and astringent, gently helping to tighten the skin.
ROSE PETALS: soothing, cooling and oh-so-pretty, rose is a lovely, conditioning addition for your lips and (though subtle) smells divine. Each bottle contains finely-ground dried rose petals, blitzed into a micro powder.
ALOE VERA: A well-known healing plant (a famous sun-damage diminisher!), aloe vera has all manner of brilliances; it helps reduce blemishes, it soothes, it moisturises (the aloe particles, when rehydrated with the water that you add, become decadently hydrating, water-logged sponges, to plump up skin) and it contains over 75 different nutrients including vitamins, minerals, enzymes, sugars, anthraquinones or phenolic compounds, lignin, saponins, sterols, amino acids and salicylic acid. So now you know.
TANGERINE: Tangerine is circulation-boosting and refreshing, perfect for a holiday mood.
NEROLI: This beautiful scent comes from the steam distillation of orange blossom, a huge amount of which goes into every drop. Neroli is a subtle, divine oil, on the cusp between floral and citrus, and exhibits antimicrobial and antioxidant activities, also balancing skin tone and elasticity.
CINNAMON: Cinnamon is anti-fungal, antimicrobial and antioxidant. I added it to this blend for two reasons; one, for its enlivening benefits (and anti-acne action) and two, to off-set the whiteness of the zinc (this is also true of the organic white tea powder and rose petal powder which are green and pink…); so we start with a gentle off-white hue rather than a stark white, and rub it into the skin, leaving no trace.
ROSEMARY: Rosemary has antimicrobial and antiseptic qualities. It has a clearing, enlivening scent.
