Description
A smooth operator for sensitive skin.
This unassuming, blush-hued little pot-ful (2-in-1, no less; when mixed with water it can be used as a purifying wash and/or as a gentle face mask) is a gathering together of natural, conditioning extracts and exfoliants (rice powder, green tea leaf powder, finely-ground oats, rose petals & rosehip) that each know how to rejuvenate a skin cell or two, plus a gentle clay to bring out impurities and leave things, well, pure, without drying the skin.
The rose extract is distilled by enfleurage whilst morning dew is on the leaves, to create the absolute.
With a natural, subtle fragrance of rose, this is a lovely, effective way to gently cleanse and exfoliate (important for encouraging the renewal and turnover of cells for maximum glow & smoothness) and, while suitable for all skin types, was created specifically with sensitive or ‘problem’ skin in mind.
P.S. It’s also very lovely to throw into a bath.
‘It’s AMAZING.
it makes my face feel like VELVET!!!!’

A little back story: I had a wonderful friend (a popular model who was suffering from an outbreak of rosacea at the time) stay with me for a few days when visiting from LA and we slathered ourselves in an early version of this after a whirlwind day of sightseeing (and, maybe, a little too much sun…). Well… the next day she told me her skin had never looked clearer and had calmed down significantly! This got me a bit excited, I’ll admit, and I since experimented and developed things further, transforming what was then an informal mix of ideas into something even more effective and extra beneficial for those whose skin likes to throw a strop (or ‘a bit of a paddy’, one might say… Get it? Rice? Rice paddy? Sorry.).
The final concoction is a thing of simple beauty; no harsh chemicals or additives, just real, natural ingredients packing in the sort of nutrients that keeps skin calm, nourished and even-tempered.
Uses & Directions:
Tap a small amount of the mixture into your palm and add roughly an equal amount of water, mixing with your finger to make a loose, slurry paste. Apply to your skin with gentle massaging movements. Wash off, or leave on for 5-15 minutes as a gentle face mask.

Key ingredients/benefits:
GREEN TEA: Packed with antioxidants, phytochemicals, caffeine, magnesium, green tea is hormone-balancing and blemish-fighting.
RED ROSE PETALS: Rose has been used for centuries for its cooling, soothing properties as well as its delicate scent and skin conditioning power. Naturally pink, it also imparts a subtle, rosy hue to the overall mixture, which deepens to a ruddy blush when moistened (it’s the small things in life!).
KAOLIN WHITE CLAY: One of the mildest of all the clays, kaolin stimulates the circulation, is packed full of minerals and exfoliates beautifully, absorbing excess oil without over-drying. Leaves skin radiant.
ORGANIC ROSEHIP OIL: Wonderful for reversing hyperpigmentation, the signs of aging and sun damage, its high anti-oxidant content improves texture and revitalizes the skin. Its vitamin and fatty-acid make up is effective in cellular membrane and tissue regeneration.
RICE FLOUR: an ancient Japanese secret for gentle exfoliation and glow; full of vitamin E and lineolic acid. When mixed with water, these gorgeous, tiny particles become velvety and silken.
ROSE EXTRACT: Rose has a beautiful, feminine natural scent which calms the skin (and mind!), plus naturally anti-bacterial qualities and soothes irritation. It also adds a bit of astringent and anti-aging magic into the mix, balancing sebum production and smelling divine!
OATS: Utterly gentle, beautifully soothing and simply a lovely thing to put on your face, oatmeal is perfect for sensitive, allergy or eczema prone skin (it’s anti-inflammatory and anti-itch!). Moisturising and healing.

I was very excited to try this product and it pleasantly exceeded my expectations, it’s exactly what I’ve been looking for in my skincare regime. The scent is also lovely, beautiful soft rose and hint of tea. So far I’ve used it as a face buff, and I have quite sensitive skin but was really pleased it wasn’t overly ‘gentle’ – it gives a BRILLIANT exfoliation!! Some other face-scrubs just seem to move around the face without getting stuck in, whereas all you need here is a small amount and the fine grains really get to work, removing dead skin and leaving the face incredibly polished, invigorated and renewed, all dry skin gone, without any irritation as promised! Using toner and moisturiser afterwards is soo satisfying – my skin drinks it up! And super to use in the morning routine, to give a perfectly smooth base if using make-up.
This product really works and is great value for money, I can certainly recommend it 😀

I love this stuff. It smells lovely and calms and soothes my skin. I use it as a mask before showering and am always delighted with the results. I tend to alternate this with the Mermaid Mask, which I also love for deep cleaning.

Every other exfoliator simply irritates my skin – yes, even the “sensitive” ones you can get from various High Street stores. This baby makes my face feel like it is being gently hugged by a friendly gang of oats! No irritation, just a wonderful feeling of softness after leaving on for 8 – 10 minutes – not to mention it smells delicious. Dangerous to put it on in the morning before breakfast, though – it never fails to enhance my craving for porridge in the morning! Would highly recommend to anyone with sensitive skin. (I have not been diagnosed with rosacea by a dermatologist, but I suspect that this is what it is when it flares up).

Whenever my skin is looking a little dull or I’ve gone overboard on wearing makeup, I’ll use this as a deep cleanser and it’s fantastic. Such a gentle exfoliant and the clay feels really calming. Like everything in the Leafology range, this stuff lasts for ages and never fails to deliver.

Ok, so, a litlte about my skin – I was plagued with terrible acne as a teenager and although I get actual ‘spots’ VERY rarely now I still have the ol’ ‘crater face’ with open pores that are blocked with sebaceous filaments (not blackheads – important difference!). This scrub cleans my pores – and I mean VISIBLY cleans them!! 😱 I use this in the morning followed by a rose water toner (not from Leafology but will be buying their toner once my current one runs out) and in the evening I use the ‘Yellow Gold Cleansing Balm’ followed by this then the toner and honestly my skin has never looked better or more even-toned. Although I don’t have ‘perfect’ skin I feel so much better about my complexion. I love that these products are natural with eco-friendly packaging and that I’m supporting a small business!
I blundered across Leafology products while looking online for some powdered toothpaste and honestly I’ll NEVER use any other brand of skin care! 🥰

So yummy! My skin feels so soft and amazing! A perfect gentle exfoliant. Not to mention it smells wonderful and turns a purple hue when you add water.
